The country's largest independent oil player yesterday took strong exemption to reports published in several dailies that it was among the companies charged by the Department of Energy (DOE) for under-filling liquified petroleum gas (LPG) and other violations of existing trade laws.

Oilink International Corporation Chief Legal Counsel Rodolf Britanico said they are surprised when the company was included among the 21 companies charged before the Justice department as alleged violators of the law on LPG as the company “is not in any way involved in trading and selling of LPG to the public.

'It is therefore not correct to say that Oilink International Corporation committed any trade violations relating to sale and distribution of LPG to the public, since in the first place the company is not involved in such type of business,” he added.

Britanico said the record of Oilink's business activities are open to the public as it has been involved only in the local oil industry pointing out that they could not think of no other reason to be included in the case other than harassment.

The inclusion of Oilink International Corporation in the list of alleged violators is merely harassment and patently unfair considering that LPG trading is not within the line of business of the company,' he explained.

Earlier reports quoted Roy Kyamko, Executive Director of the Presidential Task Force on the Security of Energy Facilities and Enforcement of Energy Laws and Standard (PTEF-SEFEELS) as saying that they are just waiting for the resolution of the cases with the Justice department against the 21 firms, including Oilink. ####
